![]() As for the writing, I just do it on anything that has little to no distractions as I can easily get distracted, so I just use the Microsoft Word alternative for Mac that comes pre-installed: Pages. And the Quote, Bold, Italics and Underline along with the markup codes on Discord lets me organize my thoughts in a neat manner. Since I spend a good two hours on Discord every day, that's the method for me. It's simplistic enough and lets you focus on writing, but I dropped it in favor of more utilitarian methods such as using a chatting platform so I can write stuff into it while chatting with my online mates. I debated on using Scrivener, and used Manuskript for a while. I abuse the Channel Structure of Discord and Guilded (Discord when I'm too lazy to boot up Guilded) for the info dumps to access them easily later. ![]() For self-editing it's definitely a great tool to have. I bought the Lifetime when it was half off. They also have other tools to help with passive writing, sentence structures, overused words/adverbs, and so much more. It helps to see how on par/level you are with those you admire. If you get the Lifetime license (or just pay for a yearly subscription), you can now compare your writing to other published authors. It always picks up my grammatical errors and hasn't failed me yet. When I started getting serious with editing/rewriting my manuscript, I first used Grammarly but found it missing commas and misspelled words. I use the font called "Average" LOL. I haven't tested this buggy system yet with Times New Roman, so it may just be that specific font (or any font that isn't Arial seems to always go back to that default). ![]() So I just stick to the desktop Google Docs instead for everything. I'd love my manuscript to my uniformed and clean when submitting, but that's not possible when the font changes on you. While that might not matter to a college student, it bothers me as a fiction writer. When writing/editing on phone, my font gets changed, specifically on the quotation marks (compared to the computer font). ![]() However, I stopped using the Docs version on my android bc of bugs and errors to the font. I loved the idea of using it on the go, access through my phone or on any computer I sign into. Like many people here, I also use Google Docs. ![]()
